I'm unclear about one thing. Is Beowulf actually seeking to join the Star Kingdom?

No, I think they're looking to break away from the Solarian League. They're an independent star nation - I can't see them giving that up - and I suspect they'll have a similar status to Grayson - trusted allies and possibly "loaner" officers, but still an independent government.

But they HAVE joined the Grand Alliance, which isn't a new polity but a military/economic pact.

Has it been discussed whether Technodyne should be a target of the Alliance?

They will be a part of the GA provided the referendum to leave the SL goes thru... Being a member of the GA AND a member of the League might be just tiny bit awkward.

I am willing to hear other opinions, but I expect the Yildun System to have some uninvited vistors (led by a certain cigar-smoking Admiral) very early on in the next novel.

But yes, Technodyne is one of the largest military contractors, they have already shown themselves (in Monica) to be in bed with the MAlignment (even if they haven't a clue about said MAlignment) and from what little we know of Yildun, it is one of the places that the SLN could begin to develop and build the type of ships to even out the odds with the GA (someday).

So yeah, I expect them to go bye-bye....

I wonder how much Technodyne knows or doesn't know about the Alignment? Perhaps some of the higher-ups have a clue?

Since they have a seat on the Mesan Board of Directors, it seems to me that TIY is a Mesan company. If that is not commonly known, once Mike finds out it might move up in priority for a visit.
