The enemy ship has a $%^*-load of missiles and launches huge salvoes for what it's meant to be.
I've already L10'd my officers and maxed my level boosters (type 3)... how can I get the advantage?

To be fair, until the 1.1 update, that was the final boss. ;)

Okay, my problems with it suddenly make more sense.
Thanks for the explanation.

Use a salvo or two to soak up defenses, then a salvo to take out sidewalls, then a salvo of Mark 13s to smash the ship's systems. (The missiles that cripple weapons should do the trick too). Then you should be able to finish the fight at your leisure.

Should have realized.

The way I beat this thing back when it was the final boss, was that I selected the 'first shot' bonus when i got offered it on my second attempt. I then launched one full double salvo of mk 13 bpl missiles, which took out all its systems. Then i switched to hull penetrators for the rest of a very boring battle - dul to the damage modifiers I had at the time, it never repaired its weapon systems enough to get a single missile off at me. This was boring, so I wouldn't really recommend it. But if you're truly stuck on this one, then just keep on trying 'til you get offered the first shot bonus. Then it's easy.

Does anyone know how to unlock the last locked side quest "rescue slaves from captivity"? I've done side quests after beating the game for about a week (which means that I have played the extra missions hundreds of times) now and still have been unable to unlock it. I have carefully watched and have completed all of them, and still nothing.
Also, has anyone figured out how to unlock the second to the last outpost?

Oh, and the level boosters are a must have to defeat the bosses, grab some of those and just launch hellfire and m13 missiles.

No I'm still stuck on that and the Pequod Outpost (which seems to say I need to kill more Manpower and OFS ships to unlock)

It'd be much nicer if those side missions gave clearer indications of what exactly needed to be done to unlock them (and there was at least one that relocked, so an indication of that and when would also be really nice)

As it is I can't tell if it's a glitch, if I need to just rack up way more accumulated kills, if I need a better hyper generator to rack up more kills in a given timespan, or what... It's just an enigma.

Also I really wish I could go back to the previous sector. There was an outpost I was able to, briefly, unlock ththat sold legendary plasma & metal generators. I'd assumed I'd be able to also buy them somewhere in the final sector so I moved on before grinding enough to replace all my generators with legendary ones. But as far as I've found they aren't available for sale here.

Oh ok, thanks man. Thought that maybe it was just me...and yea, it does suck that you can't go back to previous sectors...I saw a very rare level booster in the second to last sector and now I don't have access to it :(
And another that I've noticed. Components that are connected to my systems will randomly disappear. It's quite irritating because a couple of those were legendary. I guess I will have to put them into my component box from here on out when I'm not playing. How tedious...

I've seen components disappear from the screen, but when you touch the space they're on, it still shows the details for the component. When you reboot the game, you can see them again.

Is it possible this is what's happening to you?

No, the component had actually completely disappeared. But thankfully it reappeared after I rebooted it. Man, I was relieved to say the least

Minor quibble re. terminology,
The description of the ship has "missile tubes"
Surely "Missile Batteries" would be better as a battery consists of multiple tubes, each of which fires 1 missile.

Otherwise, excellent game, dudes (and dudettes)!

There is a small chance of this happening because of the way saving is implemented. We don't save every single component move/alteration because of the amount of data that would be sent to the server makes it slightly impractical. We've seen this happening more frequently that we would have liked however so we'll be changing the saving structure in the next build.
