There's also that whole spate of "alien planet" CGI specials on Discovery and like channels from a few years back. Avatar had some strange critters, too.

I think the key for bringing Nimitz to life is going to be going to the academics and getting realism and thoroughness rather than going to say the comic book artists and trying to get "cool".

They showed a tiny bit of their modeling/rendering capability at honorcon. It looked very impressive and well suited to doing the movie.

Typically you'd do it when you constructed the underlying skeleton and joint limits, reinforced by the muscular structure you attach to that. However the whole issue of how the limbs are used was never really made clear in the books, and some of the concept art that looked very interesting played on that.

I would expect them to develop the character of Honor Harrington so that it's obvious to the viewer that she's, ... well, honorable, as well as responsible to her duty, professional, and a good and decent, respectable human being with the flaws RFC wrote about - doesn't think of herself as pretty, hurts when her crew dies.
A character who has a leader's charisma and inspires her crew (by perhaps unwitting example) to become all they can be.
I hope they remember that slight tick by her mouth when her temper flares up.
All without making her seem contrived.
I hope they find a very skilled actress and director.
Prolong will amke folks look like teenagers and twenty-somethings.

I would be OK if they changed the basic construction of prolong. It could freeze the ageing process at 35 or so, or even just slow it down all together. It would be hard to find enough young actors and actresses to do the movies, who will still look young enough for the possible second or third movie, and 35 is a lot easier to fake than 18.

Good point. I certainly hope an admission of Prolong and what it is, is given in the film.

If anything, prolong should make the series that much more Hollywood-friendly. They can make everyone young and attractive and call it canon-- heck, one of the most beautiful women in the series is the MC's mom.

Reading through this I can't believe you should be contemplating using a real cat in a film. CGI makes a four or six legged cat that can do interesting things. Use a real cat? Ha when was the last time a real cat ever did anything someone wants it to do?

Actually, you can sometimes get a cat to do what you want if you bribe it with food ... long as it is hungry enough and the treat is tasty enough that it will abase itself to get it.

Kind of how everyone (have to?) go around bribing the Treecats with celery for every little thing they do ... or just to be accepted in the same room ... ;)
