Officially celebrated November 15, ah who needs a tradition as long weekends are more fun, right.

The eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month of 1918 WW I's guns fell silent, the Germans accepted President Wilson's proposed the cease fire and a genial fifteen point peace treaty. Unfortunately Wilson had a stroke and the French and British politicians demanded reparations, and thus led to the Great depression, Adolf Hitler, and World War II in Europe. No wonder the grasping, sleazy, and take the money from the unpopular to hell with even handed fairness politicians don't want us to remember the truth. :D

Woodrow has never been one of my favorite presidents. His policies if in place today would mean I would be thrown in jail if they were still in force today. Imagine the current office holder utilizing the below act that was repealed 4 months before Woodrow Wilson left office.

The Sedition Act of 1918 (Pub.L. 65–150, 40 Stat. 553, enacted May 16, 1918) was an Act of the United States Congress that extended the Espionage Act of 1917 to cover a broader range of offenses, notably speech and the expression of opinion that cast the government or the war effort in a negative light or interfered with the sale of government bonds.
It forbade the use of "disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language" about the United States government, its flag, or its armed forces or that caused others to view the American government or its institutions with contempt. Those convicted under the act generally received sentences of imprisonment for 5 to 20 years.[ The act also allowed the Postmaster General to refuse to deliver mail that met those same standards for punishable speech or opinion. It applied only to times "when the United States is in war." It was repealed on December 13, 1920.
Since I am a Navy veteran have spent 22+ years in a very meaningful service to this country and it is Veteran’s Day lets remember how progressive administration treated the returning WWI veterans.
Wilson's administration did effectively demobilize the country at the war's end. A plan to form a commission for the purpose was abandoned in the face of Republican control the Senate, which complicated the appointment of commission members. Instead, Wilson favored the prompt dismantling of wartime boards and regulatory agencies. Demobilization was chaotic and violent; four million soldiers were sent home with little planning, little money, few benefits, and other vague promises. A wartime bubble in prices of farmland burst, leaving many farmers deeply in debt after they purchased new land. Major strikes in the steel, coal, and meatpacking industries disrupted the economy in 1919. Racial animosity erupted in serious race riots of ethnic whites against blacks in Chicago, Omaha, and two dozen other major cities in the North.
Glad that he was never elected to a 3rd term due to poor and failing health. Just my opinion…

It is Remembrance day here in when we do turn our thoughts to those who gave their lives and their service in defence of the freedom we enjoy today.

Hi Keith_W,

I spent a couple years in England back in the mid 1970's, and really appreciated Remembrance Day, as opposed to the way its done in the states now, where the scouts are often paid to put the flags out on people's lawns instead of doing it themselves anymore.

I thought then that their nationally televised tributes, especially to the WW1 veterans, was far far classier than anything ever done in the states, the TV networks here wouldn't know where to begin.

This year's Remembrance Day was particularly poignant, being 100 years on from start of WW1.

Our little town center was packed on Sunday.

I dont know wether any of you guys in the US saw about the 'sea of poppies' in the moat of the tower of london - 888,246 ceramic poppies - each one representing a British military fatality.

Here is a BBC video of a drone flying over for those who havn'thttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-30004315

That was brilliant - and most of those poppies were paid for by subscription and will be sent to those who paid for them. A Beautiful display in memory of our lost.
