Hi Direwolf18,

That's a very important consideration to keep in mind, thank you.

will Maikel ever stand up and say he knows the Holy writ was a lie, or will he leave that to the next Archbishop of the CoC?

The Empire of Charis buys in to the writ, and the Archangels, and all that fun jazz. Attacking that has way to many chances of backfiring. They don't buy into the Church's secular power. Opposing the Group of Four is something the average Charisian would do happily, challenging the Writ is a whole different story.

For now, things can and will change in the future.

I think that the full truth would be pretty impossible to give for a one or to century. Of course, if you didn't want the civilization collapce and the religious carnage on that scale, that would make even the Go4 looks like an example of humanism.

The peoples simply isn't ready to consider an idea of the world without Archangels and "Holy Writ". They haven't any other philosophy, that they may use as alternative. For all that matter, even the Charisians is considerably more fanatical that any Earth analogue, simply because they don't know that it is possible to be not! The impact would simply destroy all the Safeholdian civilization, and it may take MILLENIAS to recover.

Oh well, if shortening the front is what the Germans crave,
Let's shorten it to very end - the length of Fuhrer's grave.

Definition of fanatic "Somebody more religious than me". [End Sarcasm]

Most of the Inner Circle are still deeply religious and are *not* fanatics.

Most of the Charisian *not* in the Inner Circle are deeply religious *and* don't met a reasonable definition of fanatic.

Having said the above, IIRC David Weber has said that revealing the truth will cause problems for Safehold.

[Hey where did this soapbox come from?] :D
