I believe the Wylsynn dynasty is a bit bereft at the moment, and it is about time Paytyr found a wife.

If RFC knows any history  she is surrounded at court by the inescapable courtiers and aristocrat daughters and watched with eagle eyes by maiden aunt chaperones AND guards. Even then I hope that she is as strong as her heritage because there is an awful lot of mischief possible in such a hothouse environment.

Just think what a 'Regency-era' and/or Romance writer could do with this kind of environment! Is it time for RFC to put that hat on? He has conquered SF and Fantasy, is 'Bodice-ripping' a page too far?

Jim Butcher's (Dresden Files author) wife is an acclaimed romance author. I'd pick up a copy of Sharon Weber's book on speculation.

Georgette is an apt comment.
Bur from observations in time as a graduate student in the USA during the 1980s, Georgette Heyer is probably not well known on the western side of the Atlantic.

She seems to be very well known in SF fandom, at least in one of the sorts of SF fandom that is not very interested in military SF. I likely move in different circles than some of you.

Hi Direwolf18,

Thanks for the seconding of General Gahrvai, although I had him tagged before AMF, given Sharleyan's analysis in BSRA. ;)

However, I can't help thinking he'll be dropping in on Nimue some night sooner or later, and wind up in the inner circle as well. :D

Your reservations regarding the Grand Duke of Silkiah's family are warranted until we learn more, which we probably will during its liberation in HFQ.

The Raven Lord's son seems a nice guy, but his father was elected to the head of the council, his son in time would have to get elected the same way, so his barony-etc is only over 123,000 people divided between 12-18 'lords' or an average of 7-10,000 people each.

From the empire's view not worth bothering even if they ever met, quite aside from the climate. ;)

Direwolf18 wrote:I can't see Zhanayt being married off to Thrisk even if he ends up in charge of Dohlar (which I put in the likely category). He is just to old plus he has grandkids of his own. Maybe one of his grandsons who was in line for succession, but any kids the teenage Zhanayt married off to old man Thrisk would have wouldn't be pretty darn low in the succession. Even then I figure Dohlar is going to be in the anti-Charisan forces for the second war in the future, so I put a Dohlaran marriage as a low possibilty.

I could see a member of the Grand Duke of Silkiah's family, although we don't even know the Grand Dukes name much less his age or marital status.

Being married off to the Raven Lord's son, whats his name is an option. The Raven Lord's seem to be a defacto member of the Alliance as it is. Silkiah will probably wan't to be once it gets liberated from those stinking Desnairians.

I personally am rooting for General Gahrvi, mostly cause he is single, and an extremely likable character.

I would highly doubt anyone in
Any snippet or post from RFC is good if not great!

I read some of her books many years back as a teenager. If I remember they were actually quite readable, and not too much given to the gushy stuff that one might expect. Of course whether I would think so now is another matter!

[Edit]Nowadays if I want a historical type book then I find Dorothy Dunnett very satisfying. large books, engaging characters with complex plots and v well written, giving a real feel for the periods and realms involved - they absolutely need careful reading. In fact they might be a blessing for the 1500wpm guys :-)

Paityr Wyllsyn is a great idea, older than Zhanayt, but still a young man. Most likely will be the head of the Schuelerites when the War is Over (Grand Inquisitor will be a title of the past). He is around the Capital and familiar with the family.

Come on RFC - give Zhanayt a honorable and interesting love interest :)

There are reports that David Weber intends for Paityr Wylsynn to be a future head of the Church of Charis. [Wink]

Of course, that doesn't preclude him marrying Princess Zhanayt. ;)

As for the future head of the Schuelerites (Grand Inquisitor or not) of the main Safehold Church, I'm suspecting that David Weber intends that Bishop Staiphan Maik for that role.

Bishop Staiphan Maik is an ally of the Earl of Thirsk and is the Schuelerite who is effectively the Intendant for the Royal Dohlaran Navy.

He's much in the Wylsynn model of a Schuelerite. :) :) :) :)

It is going to be interesting to see what happens to the EOC's policy of killing inquisitors on the spot. While it was an understandable respose to what happened to Manthyr and his men, I don't think it is sustainable as a long term policy. Sooner or later they are going to have to sort away those who are actually guilty of crimes from those who aren't.
