As I bought the dead tree edition of "Like a Mighty Army" at publication (Amazon pre-order), I have it but I am so seduced by the search capabilities of the Kindle software, I have been waiting for a price reduction from the initial release price of $12.99. Given that it is 6+ months since release, I find myself both sad and happy about this.

Sad, because I have too much 'tight wallet' in my training to 'splurge' on a needless luxury like a second, albeit electronic, copy of the same thing. Yet, given the obvious skill at selling that Amazon & Macmillan have for setting price-points and the other publishing criteria, am I correct that Mr Weber (RFC) has a book selling well enough after 6 months that it is sensible to keep it at the original issue price? If that is the case and given my proclivity for wanting authors to be rewarded so that they keep writing, then I feel I should be happy! (A starving artist has very little resources to be productive! :!: )

Ah well, I'll just have to keep checking back to see if things change and when.

Another thought for my fellow fans out there ... Given the wealth of intelligence and deep thought we have on this Forum, should we encourage RFC / Macmillan to add a brief squib in the books to point the neophyte readers towards this URL? Think of all of the empty minds and hours that could be filled from just a brief line?

I certainly don't begrudge David his success. Nobody deserves it more. But somehow the "starving author" image just doesn't work.
