Hi all! So, I've finally convinced one of my best friends to start reading this series. She's only halfway through OBS at the moment, but listening to her reactions as she reads it the first time brought me back to my own "first time" through the books.

And so I thought I'd make this fun little post for you guys - short (very short) summaries of each book, through the window of my emotions as I read each one. Feel free to enjoy, comment, point and laugh, etc. :D

OBS: what an engaging military sf novel! LOVE that Estelle character!

HotQ: oooh, worldbuilding's getting g- WAIT WHAT NO NO NO NO

TSVW: oh good maybe i'll get a break from all the crying. oh look, French Revolution parallels ahoy! also i love michelle now.

FoD: GUESS NOT ::cries a lot::

FiE: boy, Honor has awesome friends. also i love sonja now.

HAE: FUCK THE COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC SAFETY and also that one sympathetic admiral and his girlfriend-slash-commissioner are making me Feel Things now

IEH: can we just put the Navy in charge of Haven pls

EoH: i love tom, javier, and eloise SO MUCH but the best part was Ransom getting vaporized

AoV: DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING?? VIVE LA REVOLUTION!!!

WoH: WEBER DO SOMETHING

AAC: NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOT THAT

MoH: the bleeding in my heart has slowed but not stopped and also STOP TORTURING ALLEN HIGGINS

ART: EVERYTHING IS THE GRAND ALLIANCE AND NOTHING HURTS

bonus! Talbott series:

TSoS: i effing love abigail hea- STOP MAKING ME CRY GODDAMMIT WEBER

SftS: i love literally every character in this subseries except the evil ones but i love michelle the very most

SoF: revolution revolution revolution GO MICHELLE

SoV: lester and michelle meet and also other stuff happens my life is perfect

Stranded on an island with just one though, OBS.

while not RFC both Evan currie's on silver wings and odyessy books are great fun.

also check out Glynn Stewart especially the Terran Privateer books, the author is a member of the forum and the RFC fan club.

I'm always a little bit jealous of people who started with OBS.

I was flying to Hungary to visit family and my mom purchased me A Short Victorious War (great call on her part since like since like 20 years later I am posting on the author's website forum). But I sorta had to work my way back and read the other books after that.

To be honest, that entire trilogy is, for me, just a blur of Victor Cachat being fucking awesome, Michael Oversteegen being utterly hilarious, and a lot of crying. Oh, and Victor and Thandi in bed together. 8-)

Well this basically summed up most of my feelings perfectly. Except the part about loving Michelle the most, ABIGAIL HEARNS 4EVER WOOO. Ahem. Yeah, but the rest of your list is spot on, especially the sheer decadent joy of reading the sentence "Cordelia Ransom was dead".
