By the way, welcome to the forums. As Is traditional, have drink of your choice on the house at the virtual bar.

Well, for some value of "active".

He often isn't around for a few months, then will post a bunch for a few days or a few weeks after he turns in a book (or something?), then he runs back to his writers garret to go pay more bills.

Wish he was here more to poke holes in our thinking...

On the one hand I agree. On the other hand if he could happily spend 100% of his time writing books and never come here at all...

That'd be a hard choice. Still I definitely appreciate when he feels the need to take a break from the novels yet still keep his head in the Honorverse by stopping by to shoot down our wilder theories, or lay out hints, or complement roseandheather on her insights into Estlle Matsuko's state of mind. :D

It would make sense that the Mesans would need/want a "far bigger number" of Detweiler-class ships than the 28 Sharks they had to strike at Haven's more dispersed shipyards.

I also seem to recall something of that nature, the Detweilers were discussing the revised plan in relation to the original plan.

Considering the huge posts he sometimes makes, and just often he does pop in, it´s surprising he manages to write as much books as he still does.

I remember this as well. I also believe that the reason for advancing OB was that due to the battle of Manticore, the main battle fleets of both Manticore and Haven had been gutted, and it looked like a propitious time to jump Manticore, and hope that the RH would finish them off.

All the force levels, goals and such were discussed in various chapters of SftS. Mostly 10, 19, 20, I think,. With Albrecht's big sales speech(my name) to the rest of Onion in Chapter 33.

Original name for the operation was to be Oyster Harbor.

Have fun,

Definitely don't bow out. So far as I can tell the worst punishment [aside from what might be reserved for a couple posters who don't give-a-rip about reposting the type of nutso ideas that have been shot down over and over] is something to do with a threatened blast of noodles from a virtual bazooka. I've earned that threat a coupla times in my 4 ish months amongst the woodwork. They're mostly pretty nice feller and gals. Welcome welcome!

Amen to that. There is probably only one poster who has never posted a brain dead idea at least once on one of the forums here, and even he once posted something that will never happen. So feel free to comment and suggest and hang around, and every so often you will get to witness one of the awesome discussions David gets into with one of the members of the forums.
