I don't expect Audrey Hanrahan to be Toast any time soon. There was no indication she left Mesa but her location sounded like it was not going to be "close" to where the fighting was on Mesa and she wasn't mentioned as either a possible casualty or that she was pushing to be allowed to be in the thick of the coverage (if, in fact, the Mesa authorities were permitting any close coverage).

Given her reputation and history, if she was Mesa on or in the system and her ship didn't make it out, I would expect her to be trying for an interview with Mike. She's an investigative journalist and getting an interview with the Admiral of a Manticorian Fleet (we PRESUME it is the 10th Fleet that shows up at the end of CofG and not the Andies) would be just her style. As to who "sent" her, that would be nobody. She goes where she wants following her own stories. Even if one of her major syndicated clients (news organization) suggested she go or even is underwriting her trip, it is still she herself and NOT the Alignment that is the resason she is there.

At this point, Audry doing Audry things and stories are very much in the Alignment interests. A full and in-depth interview, fairly reported, with Mike and the reasons 10th Fleet is at Mesa will have very little to do with any meaningful mention of the Alignment and everything to do with Mesa/Manpower causing havoc in the Talbott Quadrant and all the related things like attacks on Torch, "Mesa" (no real clarity on the Alignment yet except that Mesa as a Star Nation is very involved) and genetic slavery along with the rest of the problems. That "Mesa" or some level of the Mesa government /with Transtellar help has been messing with other Star Nations including the League at a level such that it seems to have been able to manuver SLN fleets into conflict against Manticore and others.

I don't think a Treecat will flag Audrey as an Alignment person. They would have to ask her some very specific questions that there are no reasons to ask. She could even pre-empt much of that with her questions of Mike by laying out- to Mike in person and for clarity of what she wants out of the interview- her reasons for interviewing her. They will ALL be true and she does't even have to consider anything beyond she is doing it to inform her readers and bring Mike's/Manticore's reasons to her readers…ALL TRUE.

Hi Brigade XO,

Kudos for an excellent forecast or projection.

OTOH, suppose one of her bonded guards, who may be a GAUL etc, sees Alfredo and goes berserk, exposing the embedded weaponry before being killed?

Such possibilities are certainly another reason to encourage RFC to finish the next honorverse book soon. ;)

Of course, that means we'd see him far less here, darn it.

Audrey O'Hanrahan would likely interview Mike as head of 10th Flt. Mike agrees and in the course of the interview casually asks, "What do you think of this whole Mesa Alignment thing?"

Alfredo is in Mike LOS and not in Audrey's.

Im betting on an interview. And that hanrahan gets some info away from it for the MAlign to use....

RFC needs something to start evening out the imbalance of direct power between them after all.....

Given. But no reason both sides can't walk out with significant gains. Michelle with confirmation of and idea where to look for information on M'Align and Audrey some technical detail that allows a breakthrough of some sort. Just saying...

Yeah, but im guessing that at first, the MAlign gets the better info, or that the info Mike gets takes a while to become useful, or is of the sort that means hanarhan still ends up better off.

The RF wouldn't be that hard to find, because by default its the public face of the Alignment.

Its going to 'spontaneously appear' in response to the collapse of the SL, and its members are all going to have long term anti-mesa reputations.

What we don't know (and at this time have any way of knowing) is does the GA have any information on the RF and its links to the Alignment (I don't have the books to hand), did Dr. Herlander Simões or Jack McBryde know about the RF plans?

If they do, then there in awkward position - they can't get rid of them without doing there very thing that SL propaganda has said they are doing. so I think they will have to treat them at least for now as a legitimate political group (just watch them like hawks in the mean time).

Yes, of course, they will be quite public and hard to miss. But that's not what this discussion is about. By "find", the original poster meant "identify as a cover for the Mesan Alignment".

The answer is: no. Neither Jack McBryde nor Herlander Simoes were in a security compartment where they knew that information. I'm presuming that Zack McBryde isn't either, but I'm not at all sure about Gail whatshername, considering her specialty.

As far as long term plans. In different interviews, RFC is supposed to have said that, first, there are only two more major space battles, and second, that the series is going to take a major turn in one of the next two books. Putting those two together suggests that, wherever the MAlign is moving to, it probably isn't Darius.
