Something that's always intrigued me is Masada. I was hoping in House of Steel we'd maybe get a small infodump on them as part of the Grayson section to bulk out what we've seen so far.

HotQ mentions that the Navy of the Faithful uniform was scarlet and gold, but no real indication of what it looked like - I'm guessing same cut and style as the GSN's. That colour combination seem odd for a naval uniform, but could they have been the colours of Steadholder Bancroft's Personal Guard?

We all know the story of Apollo. What are the chances the SLN will discover an 'achilles heel' regarding the Apollo missiles? That would make for great, historically apropos storyline.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

Well, first they have to figure out how the FTL communications work (we have textev that the Sollies have been working at it (more or less), but without significant progress (see SftS, Byng comments) and while they have probably figured out the Manties have created a dual-drive missile, they do not have the micro-fusion plants or tech to build their own (yes, an improved (and probably much larger) Cataphract missile could probably come close to evening the ranges, but the Sollies are still in the position of accepting that something like DDM (they really haven't seen the true range of Apollo or the MDM's yet).

And given that most of the folks who have seen them in action are (1) In POW camps (2) Out in the Verge or (3) have their component atoms drifting around New Tuscany, Spindle, and Manticore, the Sollies have a long way yet to go to figure out what hit them and how, much less coming up with effective countermeasures.

And I don't think they are going to be granted that time.

The MAlignment...maybe--they probably have proetty good intelligence and actually believe Manticore has these weapons, and they have a large and active R&D program, now being relocated to Darius.

We shall see, eventually.

But who's to say that the MAlignant cancer won't just continue with their old strategy of maneuvering the SLN and the Star Kingdom (now the GA) to annihilate each other. They could supply the SLN with missing info regarding Apollo and suggest certain weaknesses that their R&D has found.

Just to make storyline interesting ... and interestingly ironic, I'd really like to see the Iliad's Achilles get some long overdue comeuppance and an achilles heel found with Apollo. After all, turnabout is fair play. Of course it'll be short lived, until upgraded to Apollo Creed  by the hard hitting dynamic duo of Foraker-Hemphill ... now known as the horribly lovable duo.

I think it would be rather interesting indeed to see the playing field somewhat leveled, providing a look at the SLN's tactical ship handling prowess. Just like the good old days. It'll also give the SLN a chance to see that the Haven sector is not just about technology. Even if the GA lays their holsters down, you're still in for a Royal asswhipping. We'll get to see things like Abby's spider senses tingling. Just a few several chapters. Not too much.

Okay. So I never got a Red Ryder BB gun for my birthday because of the "you might shoot your eye out" factor. Fine.

But I'd really like to get a Kristen Bell to play the part of Alice Truman.

Damn. Just ... damn!

And this time I think I should get what I want, since there's no danger of anyone getting their eye shot out.

With the exception of ... well ... her! ;)

Hi cthia,

Unless I am misinterpreting the story arc, the League is not going to be around to be manipulated by anyone very long.

My crystal ball is showing the same, as is my mirror on the wall; but a "few several" chapters of fun is all I ask, for a starving Honorverse-crack-addict.

Seriously RFC, I'm contemplating burning pages of your books and inhaling the smoke. I need a fix!

I am not; I repeat, I am not addicted to sex. Sex is addicted to me. I tried to divorce Sex, but her lawyer hit on me. I hit her back.
