Once also known on the internet as the 163x series, Baen for a time called these books the Ring of Fire series, and it is as frequently called the 1632 Universe or 1632verse; however it is named, it is a best-selling success! The alternate history series starts when the inhabitants of a small town in the USA find themselves transported back to Central Germany ... in the late spring (May) of 1631 with no way back. This collaborative universe created by Eric Flint has featured Flint's collaborations with several authors, including David Weber.
This series revolves around the eon-long campaigns of an alien species (the Achuultani) to exterminate all competing intelligent life. Unfortunately, the planet Earth lies squarely in the path of their latest effort. Earth's only chance for survival lies in the hands of a single NASA astronaut and one marooned alien starship the size of a small moon. Actually, the size of our moon...which is how it's been disguised for the last fifty-thousand years.
The Empire of Man (also called Prince Roger series and March Upcountry series) is a series of science fiction books by David Weber and John Ringo published by Baen Books. It combines elements of space opera and military science fiction. At its heart, it is a coming-of-age story, describing the growth and maturity of Prince Roger, the spoiled younger son of the Empress of the galaxy-spanning "Empire of Man", third in line to the throne, and an over-handsome useless fop. We follow his adventures as he is marooned on a forbidding planet with a small group of Marines and must fight his way to safety for himself and his empire.
The Honorverse is a military science fiction series created by David Weber and published by Baen Books. The series is set primarily after Honor Harrington's October 1, 3961, birth; although she is the protagonist in most of the stories, more recent entries make only passing references to Harrington. Reminiscent of C. S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower series, the books have made The New York Times' Best Seller list.
The Union of Arcana's magic has enabled them to expand their civilization through the portals linking parallel universes for over one hundred and fifty years. But of that is about to come to a screeching halt, for the Union's scouts have just discovered a new portal, and on its far side lies a shattering revelation. Arcana is not alone, after all. There is another human society, Sharona, which has also been exploring the Multiverse, using their scientific instruments. Both sides think the other fired first, and no one on either side understands the 'technology' of the other...
The Gbaba have left Earth and her colonies smoldering ruins, and the few survivors have fled to distant, Earth-like Safehold, to try to rebuild. But the Gbaba can detect the emissions of an industrial civilization, so the human rulers of Safehold have taken extraordinary measures to keep Safehold society medieval forever. 800 years later, in a hidden chamber on Safehold, an android from the far human past awakens. Via automated recordings, “Nimue” - or, rather, the android with the memories of Lieutenant Commander Nimue Alban - is told her fate: she will emerge into Safeholdian society, suitably disguised, and begin the process of provoking technological progress which the Church of God Awaiting has worked for centuries to prevent. It's going to be a long, long process.
Between 1990 and 2002, David Weber and Steve White co-authored a series of four science fiction novels set in the Starfire strategy game universe. This New York Times Best-selling series contains some of David's earliest published works, and is "...fast-paced and entertainingly enjoyable..." Come enjoy the clash of the Terran Federation, the cat-like species called the Orions, the genocidal Rigelians, and even the "Bugs" as they fight interstellar wars such as have never been seen before!
Our hero is the unlikely Paladin, Bahzell Bahnakson of the Horse Stealer Hradani. He's no knight in shining armor. He's a hradani, a race known for their uncontrollable rages, bloodthirsty tendencies, and inability to maintain civilized conduct. None of the other Five Races of man like the hradani. Besides his ethnic burden, Bahzell has problems of his own to deal with: a violated hostage bond, a vengeful prince, a price on his head. He doesn't want to mess with anybody else's problems, let alone a god's. Let alone the War God's! But somehow he ends up in the middle of it all, anyway...
And then there are those books that David has written that weren't really a part of a series...at least not yet! These are some miscellaneous offerings from over the years, and we've also included David's stories that were written in Keith Laumer's Bolo universe. And last, but not least, David's "Furies" stories...Did you know that Path of the Fury is the novel that he recommends to people who have never read his work before?
